1. Our Core Privacy Philosophy
LightWeb is built specifically as a zero-bloat, lightweight web browser for TVs and connected devices. Your privacy is protected by default:
- No Personal Data Collection: We do not collect names, email addresses, phone numbers, contacts, device identifiers, IP addresses, or browsing history.
- No Tracking & No Profiling: We do not track websites you visit, search queries you make, or build advertising profiles.
- No Advertisements: LightWeb contains zero ads, third-party ad networks, or commercial adSDK integrations.
- Offline & Local Storage: All bookmarks, speed dials, and tab history are stored exclusively on your local device hardware and are never synchronized to our servers.
2. Crash Diagnostics & Anonymous Stability Data
To identify and fix unexpected app crashes across varied Android TV hardware chips, LightWeb incorporates the Google Firebase Crashlytics SDK.
- What is collected on a crash: Anonymous stack traces, operating system version, device model, and crash log events.
- What is NEVER collected: Web URLs, form input, keystrokes, personal identity, or sensitive browser content.
- Purpose: Strictly debugging and resolving application memory leaks, engine panics, or rendering crashes.
3. Web Content & Mozilla GeckoView Engine
LightWeb utilizes Mozilla's open-source GeckoView engine to render web pages. When you visit third-party websites, those sites may operate their own privacy policies, cookies, and network requests. LightWeb includes native ad-blocking and tracking protection rules to minimize third-party cross-site trackers by default.
4. Data Deletion & User Control
You have 100% control over all data stored on your device:
- You can wipe all history and speed dials directly from the in-app Settings menu (Clear History & Cache).
- Uninstalling LightWeb or clearing app data from Android System Settings instantly and permanently destroys all locally saved data.
