FAQ & About LightWeb

Fast, zero-chrome, hardware-accelerated web browsing designed from the ground up for Android TV.

What makes LightWeb different from standard Android TV browsers?

Most TV browsers are simple WebViews wrapped in heavy TV launchers. LightWeb uses the standalone Mozilla GeckoView rendering engine with custom MediaCodec hardware video acceleration, zero-disk RAM caching, and an integrated virtual cursor tailored for TV remotes.

How do I navigate between screens?

LightWeb uses a 3-Space architecture:

• Space 1: Search & Bookmarks Hub (Start Page).
• Space 2: 100% Zero-Chrome Active Website.
• Space 3: Tabs & History Card Grid.

Press the Back button or Menu key on your remote anytime to bring up the Navigation HUD to switch screens.

How does the virtual mouse pointer work?

On websites not specifically designed for TV D-Pads, LightWeb activates a precision virtual mouse. Tapping a D-Pad arrow gives a small micro-nudge for clicking tiny buttons, while holding the arrow accelerates smoothly across the screen. Pressing DPAD_CENTER performs a click, while holding it opens the TV Context Menu.

Does LightWeb block ads and trackers?

Yes. LightWeb integrates built-in StevenBlack ad-blocking rules and native Firefox tracking protection at the engine level to prevent malicious popups and reduce page load times.

Is my personal data safe?

LightWeb collects zero personal data, maintains no user accounts, and contains no advertisement networks. Read our full Privacy Policy for details.
